After payment: the steps toward release
Paying a monitoring or program fee is not the same as posting bail or bond. Payment alone does not authorize release from custody, end a court order or permit device removal. The court, supervising agency or facility must confirm what is required in the individual case.
- 01
Confirm what the payment covers
Before paying, ask the responsible agency whether the amount is for monitoring, a program, bail or another obligation. Confirm the client and case ID, accepted payment method and any other release requirements.
- 02
Keep proof of payment
Keep the receipt, transaction reference, amount and payment date. A barcode or payment slip is not proof that funds have been received; the receiving agency must verify the transaction.
- 03
Have the payment verified
Contact the finance department or receiving agency to confirm the money reached the correct account. If a payment is missing, provide the receipt and ask for a review before paying again.
- 04
Wait for release authorization
The responsible court or agency reviews the order and any remaining conditions or holds. An outstanding warrant, another case or an unmet condition may prevent release even after payment.
- 05
Complete paperwork and signatures
Once release is authorized, follow the facility or agency's instructions. Ask for the written release authorization and applicable discharge or supervision paperwork; sign required acknowledgments and keep copies of dated, signed documents.
- 06
Confirm the next appointment
Confirm pickup arrangements, reporting dates and continuing court conditions. If monitor or interlock removal is authorized, schedule it with the approved provider—never remove or tamper with a device yourself.
How long does release take?
Payment processing and release processing are separate. There is no guaranteed release time: it depends on payment verification, court authorization, remaining holds and the facility's procedures. Ask the responsible agency for the case's current status and next required step. This page explains the general process; it does not process bail, authorize release or show live custody status.
